Parent Consultation:

For parents who wish the opportunity to discuss how they manage a child’s issue themselves, think through positive solutions and ‘troubleshoot’ how they are currently managing an issue, a parent consultation can be much more effective and appropriate than engaging the individual child in therapy.  (These consultations are available for parents of any age of child, although individual therapy is only available for children over 12 years of age.  Please bear in mind that for infants and very young children, your health visitor or GP should always be the first port of call).

Parent consultations can be a ‘one-off’ or parents can revisit when needed.  This often works best in situations where issues are less entrenched, when the child is too young for individual therapy or indeed when parents wish help and advice at times when ongoing therapy is not possible.  These appointments can often be offered more swiftly than spaces become available for ongoing individual therapy (e.g. as cancellation appointments), so do email if you would like more information about whether this may be appropriate for you.

I also offer cognitive assessments, to provide a greater understanding of your child's strengths and weaknesses.  Please see the assessment page on this website for more details.
